We never thought we would like “green smoothies” because we were raised to believe that anything green was too healthy to taste good at the same time.
But upon doing a green smoothie challenge from Simple Green Smoothies that included this recipe for Dan’s Famous Apple Pie Smoothie (our gateway smoothie), we’ve been converted for good.
Why? Because as parent entrepreneurs, we need to be in constant pursuit of ways to maximize our time + efficiency. One of the best ways to do that is to make sure we’re in optimal health + don’t waste time being sick or creating a big mess when cooking for our families.
A good way to ensure we’re hitting our nutrition targets without making a mess in the kitchen is by opting for healthy smoothies like this one we’re sharing with you.
Turns out, green can taste great, but don’t just take our word for it — try this recipe + see for yourself!
Note: Sometimes, the fruit colors can overpower the greens in your smoothie to give it a deep purple color, but what makes a smoothie “green” is using a veggie like spinach or kale as the base. On that note, we don’t actually think this particular “green smoothie” comes out bright green in color.

From here, we ventured into trying other smoothie recipes + incorporated them into our meal plans. We use this Ninja single-serve blender.
Even with a family of four, we’ve found that prepping individual smoothies across four single-serve cups makes for an easier clean-up compared to using one large blender + that’s really helpful for on-the-go parent entrepreneurs.
